Year-Round Tubing
While we were researching various type of year-round flooring materials for sledding around the world, we came across the Finnish flooring material called ‘Everslide’, which had been mainly used for the landing zone of ski jumping hills with a few sales references for sledding in other countries, and we thought it was the best product for all seasons.
We judged they must be safe enough for our all-season sledding, because the flooring material for the landing zone of ski jumping should not cause abrasions or burn accidents when the ski jumpers lose their balance to fall on the floor at a speed of about 100 km/h.
We worked with the C.E. Lindgren Oy in Finland to upgrade the Everslide used for ski jumps in a manner suitable for sledding. In 1997, the first Everslide sledding park was created in South Korea.
At that time, the burning and hygiene problems caused by the slime and fungus with the artificial turfs or pitches were demanding a rise of new material, and Everslide, which has no such problems, attracted a lot of timely attention.
Since the early stage of Everslide sledding had an open type full-width structure like a traditional snow sledding park, there was no safeguard at all to prevent collisions with the nearby riders.
Therefore, under the control of the security personnel, the space between the sleds was secured to avoid the contact between the sleds as much as possible, and accordingly the number of people who could slide down at the same time had to be greatly reduced.
The lane guided Everslide sledding was introduced to the market to prevent frequent crashes during the riding, which was a breakthrough way to prevent collisions and burn and to carry more patrons.
Since the early 2000s, the plastic sleds had been replaced by the tubing sleds with excellent safety and comfortability. And we improved the existing lane guide system to cope with the new tubing parks.
The water park was enjoying a boom in Korea, and most people preferred the water park during the summer time. Despite the year-round tubing was of course available in summer, the visitors hate to spend time in Everslide tubing parks. As a result, most of the year-round tubing parks as well as Everslide tubing parks had to suffer great deficits in the summer. We had been thinking for a long time to find a way to activate the summer tubing, and finally we decided to make a variable tubing park that can be adjusted to the seasonal features.
It is a fresh idea to slide down to the landing pool in summer, to run like a traditional year-round tubing park in spring & fall, and to cover the landing zone with snow in winter. Sliding down to the landing pool with swim suit in summer time was a good challenge for the safe flooring material like Everslide since there was no risk of burns. It was also a good challenge for us because we had a lot of technical background for the water park business for summer as well as the snow making business for winter. There was no better than us in achieving the task.
It was a very fresh idea to slide down into the pool with tube, but it was not as easy as we thought to install the landing pool for summer time and demount it for the other season.
We spent a lot of time in researching and testing to develop a structure that can easily be assembled / disassembled by any ordinary male without help of professional worker.
The environment-friendly circulated water filtration system was additionally incorporated with Everslide water tubing system to meet the strict legal standards of water quality for the swimming pool and a floor irrigation system for better gliding activities as well as the compact snowmaking system utilizing the small volume of water have been developed.
The Everslide Water Tubing parks have been constructed nationwide, which stroke the industry with the amazing report that 40 days summer tubing business exceeds the 60 days of winter tubing business, which was in fact more than the total sum of traditional tubing business during spring, summer and fall.
It is the extreme of fun provided by Everslide water tubing to glide forward onto the surface of landing pool, and the result reflects our experience and technology accumulated in designing and constructing a variety of different riding facilities across the country.
We are constantly researching and developing new ways to communicate with the customers and operators and to solve the problems or improve the system.
